Thursday 16th December - Football Team Party

Football training will be on as usual on Thursday 16th December.

We will be having a party to celebrate our achievements this term.

Developing Fitness through Circuit Training

Tonight we worked on our fitness skills as we took part in some circuit training. We had to move around the circuit and do the exercise for 5 minutes. Some of us found it tiring but we all found it fun!

No Football this Thursday

Please note that there will be no football training this Thursday (21st Oct) as we have the food tasting event in the hall. Football training will continue after half term.

An excellent start!

Congratulations to Zain Khan and Oscar Simpson who, after interview, were elected as Captain and Deputy Captain of the team. I am sure they will do a great job in their new roles.

We have made a good start with our training, beginning with dribbling skills before moving onto passing.

Football Team Training

Just a reminder that football team training starts this Thursday from 3.30pm - 4.30pm.

Please ensure that you bring a football kit, shinpads and football boots if you have them.

Due to the Walton on the naze trip, interviews for Captain and Deputy positions will now take place on Tuesday at assembly time in 2M.

Autumn Term Updates

I hope that you had a good break and practised some football skills over the Summer!

Football team training will begin on Thursday 23rd September. Sessions will run from 3.30pm - 4.30pm.

Interviews for the Leadership team will take place on Wednesday 15th September at assembly time. If you would be interested in going for the Captain or Deputy position please let me know as soon as possible.

Details of our first match will be announced as soon as information is available.

In the meantime if you have any further questions please feel free to speak to either myself or Mr. Ashwell.

Football Team 2010 Announced

Congratulations to the following for making the team:

It was a very difficult decision. Everyone who trialled was at a very good standard. We will soon be holding interviews to select the Captain and the Deputy.

Year 5 Football Team Trials

Trials for next year's football team (2010-2011) will be undertaken soon!

Trials will follow the same procedure as last year.

There will be a short meeting for any Year 5's (boys or girls) who would be interested in attending the trials. This will take place at an assembly time/playtime - date to be confirmed soon. At this meeting, those interested will fill in a questionnaire.

Following this, me and Mr. Ashwell will take a look at all the questionnaires and if you are successful you will be invited to 2 trials.

Teamwork trial - This will show us how well you can work together in a group. We will also be looking for leadership qualities. You will be given a variety of tasks to do in groups and we will see how you get on.

Skills trial - A chance to show us your footballing skills. We will be looking a dribbling, shooting, passing, goalkeeping, heading skills as well as your teamwork and speed and movement skills.

So get training and you will be notified of the initial meeting the first week back after half term!

Year 6 Football Team

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly thank-you for all your support with the football team over the past year. All the boys have made great progress with their skills since they started back in Year 5. They should all be very proud of their effort and achievements.

The last training session of the current team will be this Thursday 10^th June. This will enable us to begin trials for next year’s team from the current Year 5’s.

Please could you return all football kits as soon as possible in a named carrier bag ready for use for next year’s team.

I am sure that you will also join me in saying thank-you to Mr. Ashwell for all his support with coaching the team this year. Mr Ashwell’s skills have been an asset to the team.

Thank-you again for all your support and I wish your children the best of luck with their footballing futures! I will be looking for some of them in the England squad in 10 years time!

Football Match on Friday

Football training will take place on Thursday 20th May as usual and then we have our match against Parkhill Junior on Friday 21st May. This will be a home match to be held at Glade. Kick off will be at 4pm and children need to be collected at 5pm following the match. Supporters most welcome!

Please note there will be no training the following week (Thursday 27th May) as we have our May discos.

Next training session

We had a constructive training session last week as we consolidated the skills that we had learnt so far.

There will be no training next week as we are off school for polling day but maybe you could practice some of your skills at home?

The next training session will be on Thursday 13th May at the usual time 3.30pm - 4.45pm.

Please remember your full kit and a water bottle if it is hot.

News of matches will be released as soon as they are confirmed.

Next training session

We all enjoyed our first training session of the Summer term. We were working on passing, shooting and heading the ball. Our next training session will be next Thursday 29th April at the usual time. Now that the weather is getting nicer we will be using the field for training. Children need to ensure they bring a football kit to change into and trainers. They can not take part in training in their school uniform. It is also advisable to bring a bottle of water. Information about future matches will be announced when available.

Please note that football training will now resume AFTER the Easter holidays as next Thursday is the Easter Fair and the following Thursday is the last day of term.

Next Match - VS Oakdale Junior

Our next match will be on Thursday 4th Feb. at 4pm at Oakdale Junior School. Maps were given out with the match letters but please see me if you would like another one. The match will end at approximately 5pm so please pick your child up at this time or you are welcome to stay and cheer us on.

Please return replies slips ASAP so that we are able to start thinking about the formation.

Football Match vs Gilbert Colvin

The above match will be at GILBERT COLVIN, Strafford Avenue, Clayhall on Wednesday 24th February.

Children need to be taken to the school (at 3.45pm) and collected from there following the match (about 4.45pm)

Please return your reply slips ASAP. There will be a meeting on (23rd Feb) at assembly time for ALL the team to sort out playing positions etc.

Please note there will not be training on Thursday due to the match on Wednesday on that week.
